      4th class - Oxides and hydroxides. They consists of oxides and hydroxides of metals and nonmetals. Their categorization is based on the metal/oxygen ratio. The hydroxides are classificed mainly on the basis of the presence of OH and/or H₂O. Also arsenides (AsO₃), selenides (SeO₃), tellurides (TeO₃) and iodides (IO₃) belong to this class.
