| Somasteroida
A class of echinoderms comprising "sea stars"-like animals of generalized structure, the jaws often only partly developed, and the skeletal elements of the arm arranged in a double series of transverse rows termed metapinnules. Their evolutionary history is short - they occur since Lower to the Middle Ordovician.
