Stratigraphy
Stratigraphy is a branch of geology studies stratification of the rocks and their superposition. It is primarily used in the study of sedimentary and layered volcanic rocks. Stratigraphy includes three main subfields: chronostratigraphy, lithostratigraphy and biostratigraphy. For more information, see International Comission on Stratigraphy.
